What does a husking pedal do?
Exactly there is no proper word for Dheki (Bengali:ঢেকি) – a local made crops crushing mechanism used for crushing Food grain without any machines and Fuel at all!!!
This is the local technology used all over Bangladesh. Though the number of this manual crushing mechanism is reduced in number, there is no real substitute by considering this from the perspective of low-cost, fuel less and user friendliness yet.
We propose the inclusion of this word (Dheki) in the Oxford English Dictionary to make the world aware of this.
A noteworthy number of women of the rural villages of Bangladesh fulfill the demand of crushing their food grain using this Husking Pedal-The Dheki!!!
