Shefali Chowdhury, A Bangladeshi descent acted in Harry Potter Film Series and Tamil movie

Shefali Chowdhury (Bengali: শেফালী চৌধুরী), a name of a Bangladeshi descent who was acted in ‘Harry Potter’ and an Indian Tamil movie. There was need of some children who would be acting in the role of class-mates of Harry Porter in the Harry Potter’s magic school. Among them two would be twins. So, everyone of the Harry Porter went out of their search for them. One day, a unit arrived Hoyeli Ranges High School in Manchester.

After the audition, Shefali Chowdhury was selected for the character of the class mate of Harry. Later, the potter team found Afsan and Shefali side by side for the role of Patil twin. They both were collected from the two ends of London, UK. But both of them are Bangladeshi origin as a coincidence.

Shefali started acting in the Harry Potter film series in 2005 through the Harry Potter and the Globet of Fire cinema. She was studying in the final semester of Oyebharali school at that time. Shefali acted in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ in 2005, ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ in 2007 and ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ in 2009. Before acting in Harry Potter Series, Shefali had acted in a vital role in Tamil movie, ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’ in 2002.

Shefali Chowdhury was born in Birmingham in June, 1988. Her parents were moved to England in 1980 from Sylhet, district of Bangladesh. She had completed ‘A-level’ on 4 subjects in The sixth form college after completing her education in Oyeverly. She studied in the subject of English language, literature, sociology and religious education.

Arianna Ayesha Afsar Ari, a Bangladeshi descent became Miss California and featured in Punjabi movie

Not much back, Arianna Ayesha Afsar Ari (Bengali: আরিয়ানা আয়েশা আফসার আরি) was born in October 22nd, 1991 in San Diego, California, United States of America. She brought up there. She studied in California, Los Angeles and graduated from Westview High School.

She was identified as ‘Outstanding Teen’ for California in 2005 from the age of just 14. She won the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in 2009. She won the ‘Miss California’ title in 2010 leaving many contestants behind. Later, she stayed in the top 10 list in the Miss America competition in 2011. Before participating in Miss California and Miss America competition, she was the semi finalist of American Idol 8 competition in 2009.

This is all about a Bangladeshi descent girl staying in United States of America. Music is one of the things which interest this girls. So, she studied on Musicology. She had sung a song called, ‘Trade hearts’ with her classmate, Andrew Cedar in 2013. Another song, ‘I can’t make you love me’ of Bonnie Raitt was released in 2013 which became popular by the music lovers. She was the lead vocal in Walt Disney’s “Make Your Mark of the World’ campaign.

Apart from this, she acted in a Punjabi comedy film, ‘Mauj Mastiyan (Taste of Love)’, where she acted for the character of ‘Dolly’ in 2014. She also got the opportunity in acting in American TV series, ‘OMG! EMT! and unusual suspect’. She also became the model of a Jewelry company, ‘Sasa’.

Moreover, An EP (Extended play in which more than one song produced but not exactly can’t be termed as Album) is released from world-renowned music production, TEK. She is currently acting in the role of ‘Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton’ in the Chicago production of Hamilton.

Afshan Azad, A Bangladeshi born UK citizen acted in different international film series including Harry potter

She is an actress. She is a model. And she is Afshan Azad (Bengali: আফসান আজাদ), a Bangladeshi descent who had played the role of ‘Padma Patil’ in the harry potter film series. She was born in Longsight, Manchester, England on 12th February, 1989. She had studied in Whalley Range High School and later she studied in Chemistry, English, Biology and Business Studies at Xaverian College in Rusholme. She is the daughter of Abdul Azad.

She got the character of a witch in the same year as Harry Potter at Hogwarts, first appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire. She also featured in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final film of the saga.

Arc Das, A Bangladeshi keeps his foot-print in the path of theater, television and movie in Australia

Citizens from Bangladesh tried their luck in different sectors and got success and recognitions for their work. Not so many people are engaged in film sector internationally. Very few Bangladeshi citizens made this exception.

Arc Das (Bengali: অর্ক দাশ) is one among the very few who made such examples. He acted in ‘Unindian’, a film by Anupom Sharma which was released in 15th October 2015. He acted among the famous Bollywood artists like Tanbistha Chatterjee, Stephen Halter, Gulshan Grover, Supriya Pathak, Salman Khan with guest appearance, world cricket legend Brett Lee etc. Arc Das acted in this movie as the character of Tick, a friend of Will (Bret Lee).

Arc Das was born in Chittagong in 1988. His father is the renowned Columnist and Poet Ajay Das Gupta. And his mother, Dipa Dasgupta is the teacher of Summer Field Tutorial. Mr. Ajay moved to Australia in 1996 when Arc was a student of just 2nd standard.

The acting life Arc started in 2003 in a regional Shakespeare Festival. Arc became the first in the ‘dialogue’ category of the festival in 2004. He also acted in some plays like ‘Reference to Salvadr Dali’, ‘Make Me Hot’. He joined in Ensemble theater of Sydney in 2010. His first short film was ‘Jagodi Ji’. He acted in a play, ‘Animals out of paper’ as the member of this group for which he was selected for the best new face for prize of Sydney theater award. He acted in a play, ‘Beached’ in 2013. He also acted in a TV series, ‘The code’. He also acted as a side role in a movie, ‘Good Morning’. After this he got chance in the movie, ‘Unindian’ where he got a lead supporting role. He also got the opportunity in acting in a Hollywood movie, ‘The Lion’ where he acted with Deb Patel and Nikole Kidman.
Beside this, he was also a co-producer of a joint comedy series, ’The Casuals’. He acted in this series along with directing.

He was acted in Bangladesh in a play, ‘Juta Abiskar” at the time of studying in Summer Field School of Chittagong. This was the very beginning in the path of acting for this ideal of Bangladesh.

Mor Thengari , The name of the first movie in Chakma language in Bangladesh

There is a saying that let a hundred flowers bloom! Once upon a time, people of this country had to fight with Pakistan which was originated when the right of mother language was being denied by the state. The country whose independence had inspired or influenced by Language movement is susceptible to the right of other language. Hundred of flowers let bloom in this country. One of the examples is the making of the movie, Mor Thengari.

Mor Thengari (Bengali: মর থেংগারি), is the first movie of Bangladesh which used Chakma as the language. In English, Mor Thengari means my bi-cycle. The director of the movie is Aung Rakhain (Bengali: অং রাখাইন).

This movie was first shown in February, 2015. This movie was shown in different countries as well. Even it was shown in ‘16th Rainbow Film Festival’ in London on 25th, May, 2015. The one hour and four minutes long film portrays the life and struggle of Chakma society. 10 Chakma persons including a woman were the debutant actors in this legendary movie.
