Thamina Kabir, a Bangladeshi descent British citizen represented in world famous Mrs. Universe competition as the first ever Bangladeshi

She is Lawyer. She is an activist. And she is a contestant Mrs. Universe 2013. This is all about Thamina Kabir (Bengali: তাহমিনা কবীর), who was the first to represent Bangladesh at the Mrs Universe pageant as the first ever Bangladeshi. Moreover, she is the principal of Thamina Solicitors. She came fourth in the fans’ votes and received friendship award.

Thamina Kabir was born on May, 10th, 1985 in Mirsarai, Chittagong. She is the daughter of Humayun Kabir Helaly of Sandwip, Chittagong and Nazma Kabir of Mirsarai, Chittagong.

Thamina was a brilliant student who stood 9th in the combined merit list in Secondary (SSC) and 6th in the combined merit list in Higher Secondary (HSC). Later, she moved to the UK in 2003 at the age of just 18. She started studying for Bachelor of Law along with raising her children. She graduated with a LLB (Honor’s) from University of Northumbria in 2008, followed by the Bar Vocational Course from the prestigious City University in 2009. Subsequently, she was called to the Bar in 2009. She is a member of the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. In 2011, she became a Solicitor.

She became an advocate in Bangladesh in 2016. In spite of this, she got a post graduate diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from Queen Mary University, London. She is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and Young International Arbitration Group -LCIA.

Thamina received ‘Maa Amar maa’ award in academic achievement category in 2013. She was also recognized in the annual ‘British Bangladeshi Who’s Who’ in 2015. In her personal life, she is the mother of one daughter and two sons.

Shefali Chowdhury, A Bangladeshi descent acted in Harry Potter Film Series and Tamil movie

Shefali Chowdhury (Bengali: শেফালী চৌধুরী), a name of a Bangladeshi descent who was acted in ‘Harry Potter’ and an Indian Tamil movie. There was need of some children who would be acting in the role of class-mates of Harry Porter in the Harry Potter’s magic school. Among them two would be twins. So, everyone of the Harry Porter went out of their search for them. One day, a unit arrived Hoyeli Ranges High School in Manchester.

After the audition, Shefali Chowdhury was selected for the character of the class mate of Harry. Later, the potter team found Afsan and Shefali side by side for the role of Patil twin. They both were collected from the two ends of London, UK. But both of them are Bangladeshi origin as a coincidence.

Shefali started acting in the Harry Potter film series in 2005 through the Harry Potter and the Globet of Fire cinema. She was studying in the final semester of Oyebharali school at that time. Shefali acted in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ in 2005, ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ in 2007 and ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ in 2009. Before acting in Harry Potter Series, Shefali had acted in a vital role in Tamil movie, ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’ in 2002.

Shefali Chowdhury was born in Birmingham in June, 1988. Her parents were moved to England in 1980 from Sylhet, district of Bangladesh. She had completed ‘A-level’ on 4 subjects in The sixth form college after completing her education in Oyeverly. She studied in the subject of English language, literature, sociology and religious education.

Afshan Azad, A Bangladeshi born UK citizen acted in different international film series including Harry potter

She is an actress. She is a model. And she is Afshan Azad (Bengali: আফসান আজাদ), a Bangladeshi descent who had played the role of ‘Padma Patil’ in the harry potter film series. She was born in Longsight, Manchester, England on 12th February, 1989. She had studied in Whalley Range High School and later she studied in Chemistry, English, Biology and Business Studies at Xaverian College in Rusholme. She is the daughter of Abdul Azad.

She got the character of a witch in the same year as Harry Potter at Hogwarts, first appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire. She also featured in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final film of the saga.

Rukhsana Begum, a Bangladeshi origin British became kick boxing, Muay Thai and IFMA World champion

Ruqsana Begum (Bengali: রুকসানা বেগম) is the Bangladeshi origin British who is not only for Britain’s but also one of the world’s most successful athletes. She retained the honor of remaining champion in British kick boxing and Muay Thai champion for consecutive years. However, Muay Thai and kick boxing is a sport with high physical labor.

Rukhsana is the daughter of Minara Begum and Awlad Ali who is from Sylhet, district of Bangladesh. She brought up in East London. Rukhsana got the opportunity to learn Muay Thai, a Thai traditional, from a former world champion, renowned coach Bill Judd in a gym of Bethnal Green area of London.

The first success of Rukhsana came in 2009 when she won a bronze medal at the World Amateur Kick boxing Championship in Bangkok, Thailand as a member of Britain’s national team. In 2010, in her first final, Ruqsana won the British Muay Thai Atomweight Kick boxing Championship Professional title from the Duel at the Dome contest in Doncaster. In 2011, Ruqsana won a gold medal at the European Club Cup Amateur Muay Thai Championship in Latvia. In 2012, Ruqsana was nominated as British Muay Thai Team Captain and won bronze at the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) World Championships in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

In March 2012, Ruqsana got the chance to meet Queen Elizabeth II at Walthamstow Town Hall, during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK. She was selected to be an Olympic torchbearer in recognition of her sporting achievements and community work. In 2012, she carried the Olympic Torch in Greenwich, London. One of her famous words from Ruqsana is that ‘This is not a big thing how many times you fell down, but this is true how many times you have stood up.’

• 2012- Ruqsana was shortlisted for the Muslim Women’s in Sport Foundation Ambassador Awards for the United Kingdom Sportswoman of the Year award held at Wembley Stadium.
• 2012- Ruqsana was named in the British Bangladeshi Power 100 for her work in education, culture and sports. In February 2012, she won a special achievement award at the Canary Wharf Sports Awards.
• 2013- Ruqsana was awarded Sports Personality of the Year at the Asian Achievers Awards.

Sabirul Islam, a Bangladeshi British citizen inspires millions of youth worldwide through his brain-child

Think! A young chap inspires one million young people worldwide. He is just on 24th years of his age. His creation is accepted over 550 schools in United Kingdom (UK) and 14 countries worldwide. He had written 3 books in English which motivates people of all ages, all races of entire world. He is a motivational speaker who had spoken over 700 events worldwide. And He is a Bangladeshi.
Yes, He is Mr. Sabirul Islam (Bengali: সাবিরুল ইসলাম), A Bangladeshi origin British citizen who made history with all the above facts.
Sabirul was born in Tower Hamlets, London, England on 12th July 1990 and grew up in London, England. He attended Swanlea School. In 2008, he left City and Islington College. He is the eldest among his five siblings-two younger brother and three younger sisters. He is the son of his parent who belongs to Sylhet, a district of Bangladesh.
He had written his first book, The World at Your Feet at the age of 17. In the first nine months since the launch, over 42,500 copies of his book were sold which grows now to 60,000 copies worldwide. In June, 2009, he had launched a game, Teen-Trepreneur which teaches key aspects of business from sales, to investment, expenses to loans and the even understanding the stock exchange. The game was intended to educate young people about enterprise, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. This game has been integrated into the BTEC Business Qualification in over 500 schools across the UK. The game has sold over 300,000 copies in 14 countries world-wide. His second book The World at Your Feet: Three Strikes to a Successful Entrepreneurial Life was published. In February 2012, his third book, Young Entrepreneur World: How 25 Teen-Trepreneurs Succeeded and Left World Leaders Scratching Their Heads was published. The book contained interviews with 25 of the most influential and successful entrepreneurs around the world, who share their journeys, thoughts and ideologies on a personal, business and political level. The book contains interviews, personal success stories and how others could achieve similar success within their respective fields. Over 100,000 copies of his books have been sold to date, which have been published in multiple languages including Spanish and Bengali.

Dr Hasan Shaheed, a Bangladeshi renowned scientist led a team which invents the first solar helicopter of the world and engaged with his next big thing, controllable capsule robot project

This is Dr. Hasan Shaheed (Bengali: ড.হাসান শহীদ), a Bangladeshi renowned scientist led a team along with Prof. Ante Munjiza which invents the first solar helicopter of the world and engaged with his next big thing, controllable capsule robot project.

The team was consisted of 7 students of Queen Marry university of England. Dr Hasan Shaheed is the Assistant professors of Queen marry university’s school of engineering. Another Bangladeshi, Sakir ahmed, was also in the team.

An Iraqi student, Ali abdai, was started research on solar helicopter in 2011 under Mr. Hasan. The model of the solar helicopter can fly without any problem, the speed too can be controlled; but this helicopter can not run with solar energy, required battery to run.  The team started working on this joined to overcome this problem.  The project of solar helicopter extended to continue in masters level. Another 6 students joined with him in the team and Professor Antonio Munjia also joined with them as assistance coordinator. The focus of the team was to run the helicopter with solar energy with three goals as light, durable, and energy-efficient. The solar run helicopter, named as solar-copter came into existence with a wight of just 1 kilogram. A solar simulator with the combination of halogen lamp was made to determine the flying capacity of the solar-copter. The four wings of the copter started moving after the operation was started with remote control. The solar copter fled up giving surprise to everyone. This is the story of the invention of the first solar copter in the world.

The outer look of solar copter is not our familiar appearance of helicopter. The familiar helicopter has two propeller-one of the top and one the tail or two in the top. But the solar-copter has 4 propellers in 4 corners in equal distance from the center which is known as quad rotor or quad-copter for getting the most solar energy from sun. The news of the solar copter circulated in technology based famous magazine of the world like Gijmag, design book. The world famous TV channel, Discovery, was telecast a report on solar-copter in their daily planet show.

The team members of the solar copter had worked on different aspects-Sakir Ahmed researched on the present condition of solar energy and the potentiality of solar cell to be used for solar copter. Kazimierz Wojewoda researched on size and structure. Jibs Ahmed researched on the materials to be used for solar copter; Aly Abidali worked on the creation of solar panel and other challenges.

Dr Hasan Shaheed was born at Hanua village of Bakerganj sub-district of Barisal district. He had completed secondary and higher secondary school certificate certification from Barisal Cadet College. Later he had completed his graduation as first class first from Dhaka University in applied physics from Electronic and communication engineering department. He had gone to Sheffield university of UK with commonwealth scholarship in September 1997. He researched on the controlling of the hand of robot. Later he completed his PHD degree from Sheffield university of United Kingdom (UK). He had joined in the Queen marry university as professor after completing his PHD in 2001. He is now researching in robotics and control in school of engineering and material science department as a senior professor. He was included in the list of top 100 most influential Bangladeshi (British Bangladeshi power and inspiration) residing in UK. His wife, Ms Mohsina Mahmuda Ferdous, is researching in genetic engineering in PHD level in Bronel University. The couple has as 5 years old daughter Nuyaima.

In 2007, a book, named as Alien: somvabona and Sondhan (Bengali: এলিয়েন: সম্ভাবনা ও সন্ধান) and in 2008, another book, named as, Mohabisser mohakash (Bengali: মহাবিস্ময়ের মহাকাশ) was published from samay prokason (Bengali: সময় প্রকাশন) in Bangladesh. Another book, Parallel Computing for Real-time Signal Processing and Control was published from Springer publisher of England as co-author along with another two authors, M Osman Tokhi, M. Alamgir Hossain. He is now busy with his next big thing, controllable capsule robot project which is already selected for innovation award of Queen’s marry university.

Tale of a Tale (Roopkotha)
This is the story of just 6 years child Wasik Farhan Roopkotha (Bengali: ওয়াসিক ফারহান রুপকথা). His nick name is Roopkotha (the Bengali word means Tale). In his early age, he had learned the knowledge of Computer programming, Project tools, and the works of System Administrator etc. The world news agency authorities mark this child as the youngest programmer of the world. The baby is the daughter of Wasim Farhan and Cynthia Farheen Risha couple.
He was born in 27th January 2006 at Gulshan, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
This iconic child attracts the international media like New York herald Tribune (, California Observer, Estate News, Children Post, various international online portals etc. Even he got the recognition from Bangladesh association of software services (BASIS) that results him to get the unprecedented reception by BASIS. Six years old Roopkotha, resident of Gulshan in Dhaka city, showed his programming skill prior to the reception given by BASIS. Moreover, He got the noteworthy coverage in almost all the leading newspaper, news portal of Bangladesh like Daily Star, Amar Desh, financial express, Daily Sun etc.

His knowledge is widen but not limited to Windows installation, Oracle installation, Disk clean-up, De-fragmentation, virus scanning, downloading various software and installing by himself.
Moreover his computer knowledge includes typing with faster speed, Windows XP, Microsoft word, power point, adobe Photoshop, flash and so on. He is equal expert in Games like Prince of Persia, Terminator 3, Age of Mythology, Age of Empire, Sonic-knuckles (all sonic series), Hercules and Air Conflicts and 700+ other games. Barrister Akhlakh, first Bangladeshi criminal judge in Britain

Barrister Akhlakh (Bengali: ব্যারিস্টার আখলাক) has been appointed as the judge of criminal court of England and Wells. This is the first ever Bangladeshi born lawyer who got appointment in criminal court as a judge. Before this, some Bangladeshi born lawyers got appointment as an immigration and family court judge.
Barrister Akhlakh is a specialist lawyer in employment, business protection, public and information law, and criminal law.
He had worked as the defense lawyer in favor of the Heringe council for the case of Baby Pee, a highlighted case throughout Britain. He is the Chambers and partners and got the recommendation as a regular specialist lawyer in Legal 500.
He enjoys the popularity as the specialist by working in various cases in Employment law regulatory act, city institution, various offices of local government, trade union, police authority. He had worked in various multi million pound cases in favor of employees and employers. At present, He has been working in the cases related to disability, race, sex, and religion discrimination. His father, Azizur rahman, is one the founder of First Masjid dawatul islam, Scotland. He is acting as the founding chairman of Glasco Bangladeshi association.
