Moumita Khondaker, a Bangladeshi descent won the Miss New York Intercontinental 2015

What is Beauty? Let’s search the answer of this question through some quotes-
A Greek proverb says, ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’. Exactly if there is no admirer, there is no beauty as well! Again in one of the quotes of John Ray echoes, ‘Beauty is power; a smile is its sword’. Here, a link is established between beauty and smile. Someone also tries to link the beauty with the almighty God. In one of the quotes of Gabriela Mistral, Desolacon says, ‘Beauty is the shadow of God on the universe’. This is different aspect of beauty. Another aspect of the beauty is its blind impacts. Mike Dolan says exactly, ‘Glamour is a shooting star, it catches your eye, but fades away and beauty is the sun always brilliant day after day’. Again John Keats says, ‘A thing of beauty is a joy forever: Its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness’. This is something different from others. Beauty has different dimension also. Gilbert Keith Chesterton says, ‘There is a road from the eye to the heart that does not go through the intellect’. But this really makes us think when Markus Zusak says, ’Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks. Not in what they say. Just in what they are…’. Indeed so!

Let’s continue with the beauty as there is a common belief that beauty never ruins. This is ever-green. So, people of different parts of the world still look for beauty. This is the reason for searching beauty worldwide everywhere through beauty contest or beauty pageant. This is the area where people of this part of the world got very little success (except few good exceptions of China and India). And for Bangladesh, this is the barren field where there are lots of opportunities to evolve in future!

Moumita Khondaker (Bengali: মৌমিতা খন্দকার), name of a very few exception for this part of the world from Bangladeshi descent communities who broke the barren field and won the Miss New York Intercontinental 2015 though there is lot more to achieve in coming days in this area. Through several rounds of competition, she had the final laugh while she defeated other contestants in winning the Miss New York Intercontinental. Later she participated in the Miss Intercontinental 2015 where she was one of the 51 contestants.

Moumita is the daughter of her father, Mahabub and mother Dina Khondoker. She had studied in Half Hollow Hills High School West and later in New York Institute of Technology. Now she is working as ‘Microbiology Supplemental instructor’ in New York Institute of Technology. She is fond of music from her childhood.
