The first paratrooper couple of Bangladesh, Major Md. Manzurul Haque and Major Nusrat Al Nuri Chowdhury
Major Md. Manzurul Haque (Bengali: মেজর মোহাম্মদ মঞ্জুরুল হক) and Major Nusrat Al Nuri Chowdhury (Bengali: মেজর নুসরাত নূর আল চৌধুরী) had made new record in the history of brave Bangladesh Army by jumping and landing jointly along with 27 others of the group from helicopter with a height of about 2,500 feet above the ground at Panichhara para trooping zone in Jaintapur Upazila (sub-district) near Jalalabad cantonment in Sylhet, an eastern district of Bangladesh, on 04th April 2013. The Para trooping course was conducted by the Special warfare wing of the commando battalion at the School of Infantry & Tactics (SI &T) at the Jalalabad Cantonment. This is worth noting that they became the first ever air trooper couple in the history of Bangladesh Army.
Both of them are the military commandos of Bangladesh army, working in Jalalabad cantonment. Major Manzur was commissioned with a long course in 46th BMA batch of Bangladesh military academy and he was serving as an instructor in the special warfare wing. His wife, Major Nusrat was working as staff officer in the research and development branch of School of infantry and tactics. Major Nusrat, a girl from Guthma village of Poshuram sub-district of Feni district, joined in Bangladesh army in the year of 2001 after completing both SSC and HSC certification from Motijheel high school of Dhaka. Her father, N. I. Choudhury, was the former secretary of Institute of chartered accounts of Bangladesh (ICAB). The second women air trooper of Bangladesh army, Major Nusrat, was under one Para commando battalion captain, Lieutenant cornel Mustafijur rahman responsible for entire jump training and jump direction along with Major Nurul Hasib and Major S.M. Touhidul Islam. Major Manzur was joined in Bangladesh army on 26th June 2002 and Major Nusrat on 2nd July 2003. Major Manzur, a man from Nobogram village of Jhalkathi district of Barishal division, was joined in Bangladesh army after completing SSC from Mohammadpur GOVT. high school and HSC from University laboratory high school of Dhaka in the year of 1998. The couple was introduced to each year 12 years back while they were in Military academy as cadet. And they got married in the year of 2008. Major Nusrat, the second woman Para trooper and first Para trooper couple with his husband sets a milestone and became an inspiration for many women military personnel of Bangladesh army and encourage them to go ahead in Para suit jumping.
